Dreaming of landing more speaking opportunities, or turning the ones you already have into real business growth?

You’re not alone.

I meet so many mission-driven business owners who want to use their voice to make an impact but aren’t sure where to start finding those opportunities.

The good news? You already have one of the most powerful tools sitting right in front of you: LinkedIn.

LinkedIn isn’t just a digital resume or job board. It’s your pre-stage stage. It’s where event organizers, podcast hosts, and decision-makers are searching for voices. Voices just like yours. You can strategically use LinkedIn to get booked to speak.

In our recent webinar, From Profile to Podium: Using LinkedIn to Grow Your Speaking, I teamed up with LinkedIn Whisperer Mary Wu to share exactly how you can use LinkedIn to grow your visibility, build credibility, and get booked.

Your LinkedIn profile isn’t your resume...it’s your audition.

Here are 3 quick, actionable tips to get started:

💡 Tip #1: Leverage Your Network

Your next stage probably won’t come from a cold pitch. It will probably come from someone who already knows you.

Reconnecting with your warm contacts is one of the fastest ways to uncover new speaking opportunities. These are people who’ve already seen your work, understand your value, and are often connected to event organizers or communities that could benefit from your message.

Try this:

  • Make a list of 10 people in your network: past clients, colleagues, collaborators, or peers.

  • Reach out to 3 of them this week with a simple, friendly message:

Example: “Hey [Name], I hope you’re doing well! [Personal Connection] I’m expanding my speaking around [your topic] for [your audience]. If you know of any events or groups looking for speakers, I’d love an introduction.”

Small conversations like this can turn into big opportunities.

💬 Tip #2: Engage with Intention

Stop scrolling. Start showing up. Strategically. Intentionally.

LinkedIn rewards genuine engagement. When you consistently show up in conversations that matter, people start paying attention.

Tips to engage strategically:

  • Comment thoughtfully on posts from event organizers, industry peers, or community leaders.

  • Share posts that showcase your expertise: maybe a story from a past talk, a favorite audience takeaway, or a quote that reflects your message.

  • Support others! Thoughtful comments build visibility, and visibility builds trust.

When event planners see you showing up as a thought leader, they remember your name when they’re booking speakers.

🔎 Tip #3: Search Smart

LinkedIn’s search bar is one of your best-kept secrets for finding speaking opportunities.

Try searching:

  • “Event coordinator”

  • “Program director”

  • “Call for speakers”

  • “Conference 2025” or “Summit 2025”

  • Use filters to narrow your search to your specific audience and industry

  • Search hashtags like #CallForSpeakers, #Conference2025, and #KeynoteSpeaker.

Save those searches and check them weekly. Set aside 20 minutes a week for intentional searching. You’ll be surprised how many opportunities start popping up.
